Tuckaseigee Trout Unlimited in Sylva will host Steffi Rausch from the conservation action group Citizens' Climate Lobby at the Tuesday, March 12 meeting held at United Methodist Church on Jackson Avenue in Sylva from 6:30-8pm. Everyone is invited to come and have a bite to eat and find out more about this group which is partnered with Trout Unlimited National.

Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL) www.cclusa.org is a non-partisan grassroots organization with chapters all across the U.S. and around the world. They work in partnership with national Trout Unlimited and many other organizations to encourage bipartisan federal policies to address the climate challenge.
The local effort right now is to encourage local city/county officials to transition to renewable energy and reduce their carbon footprint like 600 cities/counties nationwide. The benefit to towns are that they will save thousands of dollars on their energy bills, thereby saving tax dollars while serving as a role model for their residents to do the same.
The WNC CCL Chapter has already encouraged both Hendersonville and Waynesville to adopt a Sustainability Action Plan and is now working on Sylva and many other towns across Western NC. Come learn how you can get involved in local and federal efforts to help protect our air and waterways. Sharing direct climate stories with our federal legislators is the key to furthering support and discussions on this controversial topic. CCL has the strategy and experience to help citizens make a true impact.
